Find the hidden X.

Each scan gives you a direction, total number of steps and the difference between its X and Y distances. Combine the clues before you run out.

SCAN. DEDUCE. DISCOVER.

Every clue narrows the map.

XY is a spatial deduction game built around coordinates without the algebra homework. Each scan gives you a compass direction, total grid distance and the difference between the X and Y distances; combine the clues and commit where they intersect.

The rules

Choose a coordinate to scan. The game reports the direction, total steps and absolute difference between the horizontal and vertical distances. It does not reveal which axis is longer, so combine successive clues to make the final find.

What makes it different

The required demonstration teaches the coordinate idea with visible possibilities, while real rounds remove those highlights and leave the deduction to you.

TRAINING HUNT

Learn by finding one X.

First, scan coordinate X 1, Y 4.

Your clue will appear here.

Glowing squares are shown in training only. Real hunts never reveal possible answers.

HOW TO PLAY

Three ideas. No formulas.

  1. 01
    Scan a square

Choose any coordinate on the map.

  2. 02
    Read the clue

“North-east · 5 steps total · X/Y difference 1” means the treasure is above and right, takes five grid moves to reach, and its horizontal and vertical distances differ by one.

  3. 03
    Combine your clues

The difference does not say which axis is longer. Use another scan to find where all three facts intersect.
